- Karg kutsuu
The second International festival of Finno-Ugric choreography «Karg kutsuu» took place in the Republic of Karelia (6- 9 of June 2011).
The festival was organized by the Republican center of national cultures, Karelian college of culture and arts and social fund «Helmi Malmi».
The troupes from different regions of Russia (Karelia, Chuvashia, Kalmykia, Mordovia, Bashkortostan) and different countries (Romania, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania) participated in the festival.

Held since 2002 (November-December), in the framework of The National Day (4th of November) and The International Day of Tolerance (16th of November)
The aims of the project:
- the creation of the opportunities for the realization of ethnic rights of karelian citizens
- the promotion of preservation the uniqueness of indigenous and nonindigenous nations in Karelia
- the activization of social and cultural life of the public organizations’ representatives in Karelia
The programme:

-the exhibitions of decorative and applied arts
-the evenings of national cultures
- international holiday for children
-the meetings of troupes of different nations
-Gala-concert of folk groups of Russian Federation and foreign countries
- The Mosaic of Kalevala
This event is held in February-April since 2002 in the framework of traditional Day of Kalevala (28th of February) and Birthday of runes collector Elias Lennrot (the 9th of April)
The aims of the project:
- the preservation and popularization of the culture of Finno-Ugric nations in the Republic of Karelia
- the support of the initiatives of the national community, aimed at preservation of the language, songs, dances, traditions and customs.
- the encouragement of pride and respect of the youth to the well-known Karelian-Finnish epos «Kalevala
- The days of Slavonic written language and culture
Held in May – June since 1993 in the framework of the Day of the Slavonic written language and culture (the 24th of may)
The aims of the project:
- arrangement of conditions to consolidate the nations of Karelia in the field of preservation and development of traditions.
- the encouragement of respect of the youth to the traditional culture of Russians, Byelorussians, Ukrainians and Greek.

- International Festival "The World Eposes are "The Kalevala" Guests"
Center of National Cultures and Folk Arts of the Republic of Karelia is pleased to inform that the 2nd International Festival "The World Eposes are "The Kalevala" Guests" will be held in June 6-9, 2012 in Petrozavodsk (Karelia, Russia).
Tales, epics, eposes are one of the richest cultural heritage of the peoples of the world. They show the examples of heroism, tolerance and kindness of the people. Each ethnic group has their own samples of epic heritage: the Karelian-Finnish epos "Kalevala" and the epic song "Kanteletar", Sami luvvt legends, epic folk songs and ballads of Scandinavia and other countries. But people of other nationalities often even don't know about them.
The Republic of Karelia has enough scientists and anthropologists who study the Karelian-Finnish epos “Kalevala”, one of the famous epics of the world translated into many languages. Amateur and professional creative teams of Karelia actively use the epic “Kalevala” in their work.
During the Festival, demonstrations of landscape performances will be held as well as theatricals of folklore groups based on the epic, plays of solo performers’ runes and ballads; exhibitions of dolls and tapestries based on the national epic theme; a youth ethno-folk party, the Internet competition of computer graphics based on the runes and ballads.
Adult amateur bands, student folklore ensembles, theaters (including puppet shows), individual performers of cultural, training and educational institutions, arts and crafts masters can participate in the Festival. Each group has to present a program based on best examples of traditional and modern epic culture, theatrical performances (up to 30 minutes); the individual performers' plays (up to 5 minutes), the landscape plays (up to 50 minutes). The Festival organizators will provide board, accommodation, free workshops, excursions and cultural programs for the participants. The amount of the registration fee for each team member invited to the Festival is: 200 rubles for citizens of the Russian Federation, 400 rubles for the citizens of other countries.
